Our Approach

Growing:

All natural Kitty Catnip – is a blend of organically grown catnip from our gardens – along with local wild catnip – both nurtured here in the Kittitas Valley (Kitty-Tas Valley) of Central Washington State.  It’s the rich, fertile, volcanic soils – quenched by the snow melt irrigation water from the Cascade Mountains –enhanced by the various pollinators like honey bees, bumble bees, flies and moths - that allow Kitty Catnip to grow tall and thrive in the long, hot, dry days of summer.

Harvesting:

In mid-July, when the flowers and buds are starting to get big we begin the harvest which lasts until the first hard frost in the fall.  As we harvest, the catnip buds are covered, stored and quickly dried in a solar heated building to maintain its vivid green color and fresh minty flavor.

Packaging:

After the harvest season - we blend all of the harvested dried catnip throughout the season and mechanically separate the stems, leaves and seeds leaving only the catnip buds.  And we only sell catnip buds – because it’s the part of the catnip plant that cats love the best!  For you and your feline companions - we quickly vacuum pack these flavorful, sorted buds (with the occasional stems, leaves and seeds) into a convenient zipper pouch to seal in this fresh summer flavor.  You won’t find any more flavorful catnip or catnip buds anywhere!

Indulgences:

During processing the pervasively fresh, minty aroma is an irresistible lure to our two kitties “Brown” and “Momma Kitty”.  Our vacuum packaging will help retain that fresh summer flavor for your cats too. We believe that you won’t find any more flavorful catnip or catnip buds anywhere!

Repeat:

See you next season

Meet the Team

Our agrarian enterprise would be incomplete without acknowledgement of our special team members:

The Brown Cat

“Brown Cat”

Vice President of Product Development

As a kitten she needed a home and came to us from Yakima Washington.  She specializes in long naps, over eating and - as a fussy eater - loves to imbibe in the “nip”.  She has been with the farm since 2005.

"Momma Kitty"

“Momma Kitty”

Vice President of Team Relations

She showed up in our yard as a stray and apparently pregnant.  We found homes for all of her little ones and has been a great morale booster around our home and gardens.  She has been with the farm since 2007.

"Sharkbait"

We posthumously honor you
